‘So You Think You Can Dance’ review: Were Serge Onik, Carly Blaney eliminated?
Going into tonight’s “So You Think You Can Dance” show, you likely knew that this was going to be a painful one. After all, we were losing four dancers over the course of the two hours! It was very doubtful to us that the worst dancers would go home, given the odds were so much higher of a shock boot that happened to just be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The only part of this show that you can only remotely consider a silver lining here is the fact that the contestants at least all least had an opportunity to once again dance for their lives in the competition, and the final decision went down to the judges. Think of this as a bit of extra insurance, and we wish that some other shows did do this.
Of the group that left, we’re most sad about Serge Onik, and felt for up until the last minute that he was probably going to be safe. Sadly, not all of your dance wishes can come true. Meanwhile, he was joined by Carly Blaney, Teddy Coffey, and Emily James. Nigel Lythgoe is right that they should use this as a stepping stone. While it is discouraging to go home, this is all short-term. They’re all great dancers at this point, and should be qualified for most of what they want to do in this art form. The problem with all dancers is simply being able to go out there and find the right way to implement your craft moving forward.

I do not understand the judge’s desicion for the boys. Casey is not memorable and bores me. Teddy and Serge stood out with the boys and have different styles. With the girls, as soon as I knew the bottom 3, I knew the judges were saving Jessica. They’re obsessed with her, but I don’t know why because she’s only had one good week.

I agree. I thought Carly had been the girl who was consistently good. Jessica does great solos and was very impressive with Rickey, but she fell down most weeks in her partner dances. I did like Serge and I thought he might make it through if only so they had a male ballroom dancer. I liked Teddy and would have gone for him after Serge, but it’s Casey.
