‘The Amazing Race Canada 2’ episode 4 review: Can Natalie & Meghan be stopped?
So far on “The Amazing Race Canada,” it would be an understatement to say that we have a pretty clear winner. Natalie & Meghan so far have to be one of the most dominant teams ever on the show.
Tonight marked the Olympians’ fourth straight finish at #1. We’ve done a little bit of research on this, and there very few teams ever in the history of even the American version of the show. Rachel & Dave are one of the only teams that we can think of with this achievement, though that includes the final leg. (Other teams, like Andy & Tommy, have won huge batches of legs with a few stumbles in between.)
What we are trying to say here is simple: After watching these two dominate in Macau, even with trouble at the dance-themed detour, everyone should be trying to target them with a U-Turn. If they don’t, they are quite frankly crazy.
The rest of the leg was pretty fun, whether it be the bungee jump (which was cool, but didn’t take much time in the editing), the gambling-themed challenge at the end, and also the detour that caused Rex & Bob some minor embarrassment, given the pedigree that is there. We still love these guys for the trainwreck factor! One other good thing here was the pure essence of unpredictability set up by the short travel times and the gambling challenge at the end: Each team really held their own fate in their hands, despite Sukhi & Jinder frequently begging pathetically for help. Rex & Bob and Cormac & Nicole actually had the skills to pull this off, and they advanced themselves thanks to that.
The real downfall of Sukhi & Jinder on this leg was mostly just the fact that they spend so much time complaining and asking for help when they probably could have spent that energy working on figuring this out. They would be better racers than they appear given that they’re both young and pretty quick, but they consistently get in their own way. Alain & Audrey found a way to stay alive, and we still feel they are dangerous.
But … Sukhi & Jinder are still alive. We had a feeling that they would stick around, and there is still a chance they could last a while. Could they win? We doubt that.
The one thing that this show needs to really work on its editing; namely, showing a struggle for teams at the dance detour before a commercial, only for them to immediately figure it out after the fact. The rest of the show is pretty darn great, and keeps the show’s reputation where it should be. Grade: B+.
