‘The Flash’ spoilers: ‘NCIS: Los Angeles,’ ‘The Mentalist’ guest to play Plastique

“The Flash” has already been booking a huge roster of DC characters, and we now know in particular who will be playing one of them in Plastique.

According to a new report coming in from E! News, actress Kelly Frye has landed the recurring role of Bette Sans Souci, the character’s secret identity. She gained her powers, which allow her to turn almost any object into an explosive, after an IED incident in Iraq. Her ties in the comic books are actually with Firestorm (played on the show by Robbie Amell), and she at one time was actually a member of the Suicide Squad.

Frye is a lesser-known actress to many, but she does have some major TV experience. She appeared in three installments of “Rake,” and also guested on both “The Mentalist” and “NCIS: Los Angeles.”

It will be interesting to see the angle that Plastique is brought into the world of “The Flash,” given that we envision her more as a villain in the comics than a hero; however, she is one of those foes flexible enough that should be seen as either for this show. “The Flash” is already doing a good job of making us question the allegiances of many iconic characters, especially since Caitlin Snow a.k.a. Killer Frost is a regular on the series.

The premiere of “The Flash” will air on Tuesday, October 7 on The CW, and it will be aided by repeating after the “Arrow” premiere the following day. Early buzz on the show is great, with the potential here being for it to be just as fantastic as its fellow comic-book counterpart on TV. As for whether or not we are going to see other heroes / villain pop up in this world, we’ll just have to see what happens next.
