‘Arrow’ season 3 spoilers: News on Stephen Amell, big moments, Ted Kord, and more
“Arrow” loves Comic-Con, and in turn Comic-Con loves “Arrow.” There are few TV shows more appropriate for a comic book convention that one literally based on a comic.
So given the setting, it only seems right to start this article with some news that specifically traces back to the comics. Apparently, Ray Palmer was not the first character the show considered getting for the new season; instead, they were looking for Ted Kord. This is a character many know better as the Blue Beetle, and DC Comics shot down their request, saying that he was unavailable. We suspect that this has to tie in some ways into either their upcoming “Justice League” movie or something else. With that being said, we really wish they would be a little more liberal with this stuff. If the movie and the show are two separate universes, then why restrict what can and cannot be used?
Now, let’s talk Olicity for a moment. Everyone from Stephen Amell to executive producer Greg Berlanti made it clear that there are plans to address this relationship much more head-on in the third season than in the past. The confession in the finale wasn’t meant to be entirely a fake-out, and the show is going to try and build on that early and often.
The thing that does continue to have us so excited about the show’s future is something specific that Amell said: Even though they are almost 50 episodes in now to the series, they continually try as hard as they can to make every episode better and better. There is now resting on laurels (Laurel reference intended), and no settling in. If you loved season 2, you may enjoy season 3 even more.
