‘True Blood’ season 7: What does Nelsan Ellis think about Luke Grimes situation?
For a little while, it started to seem like the story surrounding Luke Grimes leaving “True Blood” before season 7 was starting to go away. Then, you had all of the exit press after this past episode.
This episode was the one that finally featured Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) hooking up with Grimes’ former character of James, which marked the end of his time with Jessica. The James character is now played by Nathan Parsons, and there are still questions regarding whether or not Grimes really left the role because it had become a gay part on the show. We’ve went through the entire situation, including some quotes from his rep.
One person who clearly does have some strong opinions about this subject right now? Ellis himself. Speaking in a new interview with New York Magazine after the episode, Ellis himself didn’t hold anything back when talking about the story:
“You quit your job because you don’t want to play a gay part? You make a big statement when you go, ‘I don’t want to play this part because it’s gay … You just made a statement, and it has ripple effects.”
Since we don’t know Grimes and have very little inside knowledge on anything that happened, the only thing that we would say for the time being here is that we’re just happy that Parsons seems to be thrilled to have the role. Not only that, but he’s doing a very good job with it. While he has a different energy than Grimes, he and Ellis have built very good chemistry in a short amount of time.
