‘Bates Motel’ season 3: Star Olivia Cooke debuts different look at Comic-Con

“Bates Motel” is a show that is most often stuffed full of surprises, so who would have known that this could also apply to the various members of its cast?

You know Olivia Cooke for playing the part of Emma on the show for sporting some rather long locks of hair, but it looks like if producers want to keep that look the same moving forward, they may need to opt for a wig. As you can see in a post on the show’s Twitter account, Cooke went for a very different look at Comic-Con for the show today: A shaved head.

This is not something that the actress merely did for leisure, though; instead, she did it in order to play someone with leukemia in an upcoming film. It still was a shock to the system for many at the convention, given that she is almost unrecognizable at first glance in the new role.

“Bates Motel” will begin filming the third season at some point later this year, and for Cooke one of her biggest challenges will be playing a young woman in Emma who really should just be doing everything that she can to get far, far away from Norman Bates and White Pine Bay. Unfortunately, circumstances have dictated that she feels a sense of family with Norma, and wants to continue to be a part of that world even if there is no logical reason whatsoever for her to feel that way.
