‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 8 at Comic-Con: Wil Wheaton appears, more scoop
“The Big Bang Theory” returned to San Diego Comic-Con this year with another rather unorthodox panel. For the second straight year, the cast members were not in attendance … though this time there was a good reason for it. There is no deal for the likes of Kaley Cuoco and Jim Parsons to return to the show yet, and therefore they wouldn’t be present to do anything for it.
With that being said, there was still another surprise guest at the event today: Wil Wheaton! The former “Star Trek: The Next Generation” star joined the panel as they discussed a few assorted things related to the future of the show, the joy of working with Stephen Hawking and James Earl Jones, and so much more.
Here are a few of the assorted highlights now in terms of what lies ahead:
- There are no plans to ever fix that elevator, just as there are probably no plans for the show to reveal Penny’s last name. At this point, the mystery keeps things interesting.
- Nobody is going to be having kids in the near future. (With that, there was much rejoicing.)
- Meanwhile, there will still be a comic-book store coming up, regardless of whether or not Stuart is running it. He’ll still be caring for Howard’s mom when the show opens up.
- Will Leonard and Penny get married soon? Per executive producer Steve Molaro, that is somewhere down the road, and not something that will be an immediate priority.
“The Big Bang theory” remains the #1 comedy on television, and you can see the devotion of the fans just by how many of them turned up to this panel, even knowing that most of the cast would not be there. The writers typically are still entertaining, and you also still had star power with moderator Craig Ferguson.
We’ll have more panel highlights from Comic-Con all weekend long, so be on the lookout for more of them! Also, sign up now to grab some other TV news on all we cover via our newsletter.
