‘The Flash’ spoilers: Plastique entering Barry Allen’s world

As we’ve said a few times now, The CW and the producers for “The Flash” are not being shy in the slightest when it comes to introducing new characters into the world of the show.

You’ve likely heard already about Robbie Amell coming on board as a man who could someday become Firestorm, and the show already has incarnations of Vibe and Killer Frost already. Now, TVLine reports that the show is getting set to cast Sgt. Bette Sans Souci, a woman who otherwise goes by the name Plastique. She can turn almost any object into an explosive after being injured by an IED in Iraq. It’s an interesting power, and we find her to be an interesting character.

There are two important details here that we do have to mention thanks to Plastique’s history in the DC world:

  • Her DC Comics debut was actually in a Firestorm story, and she is not the only comic character on “The Flash” with that distinction.
  • Also, she is more well-known as a villain than a hero, and was a rival and a romantic interest at times for Captain Atom. Notice here that there is a distinction between Captain Atom and The Atom a.k.a. Ray Palmer, who will be played by Brandon Routh over on “Arrow” this season.

Producers are still casting an actress to play the redhead, and we’ll just have to see where this story goes moving forward. “The Flash” premieres on Tuesday, October 7 on The CW.

What do you think about the show bringing Plastique on board, and do you have any casting suggestions right now? Let us know in the comments.
