‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 5 video: Watch Lucy Hale’s ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ performance

Lucy Hale is currently very busy thanks to her gig on “Pretty Little Liars” as Aria, but on Wednesday night, she had a chance to step outside of that to return to her first love in singing. She was a featured guest on “So You Think You Can Dance,” and performed her country song “Lie a Little Better.” You can check out the performance of it below.

While it may not seem obvious at first, there is at least a distant connection between Hale and “So You Think You Can Dance” executive producer Nigel Lythgoe. Hale years ago appeared on the “American Idol” offshoot “American Juniors,” which was also produced by Lythgoe and many others. This was the launching pad for her career, even though she was mostly known for acting up until the past year or so.

Interestingly enough, Lucy is not the only actress from “Pretty Little Liars” who has a talent for country music, as her co-star Sasha Pieterse (Ali) has also recorded some music over the past few years. At the moment, we don’t see Ashley Benson, Troian Bellisario, or Shay Mitchell doing the same. It’s hard to be a crossover artist and have time for both careers. Typically, one does end up ruling over the other. Just ask Ariana Grande, who is now seemingly gone from scripted TV in order to continue pursuing her pop music success.
