‘Criminal Minds’ season 10 spoilers: What makes Jennifer Love Hewitt stand out?
By now, you have likely heard the news regarding Jennifer Love Hewitt and her upcoming appearance on “Criminal Minds” this coming season. She is joining a cast that is already nine years in the making for some of them, so thanks to that, an inevitable question is going to pop up: How in the world do you manage to stand out?
Well, this is clearly an issue that executive producer Erica Messer is well aware of already, and she seems more than interested in ensuring that Hewitt’s Kate Callahan is someone that is interesting and notable almost right away. For evidence, just check out what she had to say on the subject to TVLine:
“You see [Kate] doing something you don’t see our team ever doing, which is schmoozing with a bad guy, working undercover to take a pedophile down … We’ve never seen our team pretend to like a criminal, so right off the bat she’s different in that way.”
This may make the character disliked by some, but her capacity to get the job done may ultimately earn her some respect. The thing about a character like this is that we don’t feel like the public is really going to have their minds made up on her for a few more weeks into the season. It’s hard to judge a new show by a single episode; with that in mind, it also should be pretty difficult to determine whether or not a character is amazing based on a single installment they appear in.
What do you want to see from Hewitt’s character on the show this year? Let us know in the comments below!

Taking pedophiles down? We don’t see that in this BAU team because there is a different unit working in crimes against children. That’s why. Messer and friends should really do some basic research. If this new character is special because of that, she should have been placed in that other unit, and hence, not in Hotch’s team. It’s the same mistake as the 200 episode, in which this BAU unit is involved in the job of the counterterrorism office. Agent Todd came from that unit when she briefly replaced JJ when she was about to have her baby. I am now hoping for the best, but prepared for the worst. Those writers are really lousy. I am mad at the CBS for letting go most of all those fabulous writers this show had during the first half of the show. Only the love we have for the characters and actors that play them keeps us coming back now…

This is just stupid. Messer should really stop trying to replicate her old show Alias in CM. And that stuff about being different because she will be schmoozing an unsub? Prentiss did that, and so did Reid. And most of the characters have already been working undercover, even Garcia. What do I want for Hewitt’s character? Well, first option: to have never ever existed. Second option, for the character to be a woman with some academic background (and not focused on her abilities to seduce unsubs). But, apparently, that is not going to happen neither. Third option: to be eliminated promptly. She will cause the reduction of screen time for every other character.

I’m going out on a limb here – But get rid of Beth Clemmons (What a disaster!) and I promise to keep an open mind concerning JLH and trust in the writers to make Season 10 one of the best.
