‘Supernatural’ season 10 spoilers: On Jared Padalecki’s Sam, Jensen Ackles’ Dean, and love interests
Romance has always been a complicated topic among “Supernatural” and its fans. The majority of the “love interest” characters have not been particularly adored by most of the fans, and they often serve as a distraction to what the Winchesters do best: Hunting and killing monsters. Also, there’s also the reality that most of them die.
So is it really possible that the show changes course, and introduces some new long-term love interest for either Jensen Ackles or Jared Padalecki’s character in the near future? At the moment, we’d say not to count on it. As showrunner Jeremy Carver claims in a new interview with E! News, this is not really something that the show has on its mind right now; with that being said, there may be room for a brief romance that doesn’t really go anywhere:
“I don’t think you’ll see an extended love interest. As in seasons past, you might see the boys come into town and have a brief something-something.”
The only time that we could really imagine seeing something like this that works out is in the final season of the show, that way we could assume that the boys were happy in the future without really having to see it. It may sound mean and sadistic, but watching people happy in relationships does not always make for great TV.
The last time either one of the Winchesters had a big romance was in the case of Amelia and Sam, and that was not exactly a beloved storyline for anyone. Better to steer clear for now.
