‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2 spoilers: Cobie Smulders will return as Maria Hill
Did you really ever doubt that Cobie Smulders would not be a part of “Agents of SHIELD” season 2? Given that “How I Met Your Mother” is now over and she hasn’t signed on to another TV series yet, it only seemed inevitable that she was going to step away from the blue French horn for long enough to be able to play Maria Hill again on the ABC show.
Luckily, this news is not pretty much official. Speaking to E! News, executive producer Jed Whedon made it clear that there would be a whole lot more of Cobie coming up on the second season of the series. While the specific plans for her are not clear as of yet, the fact that there are still plans should be celebrated.
We understand that there are a legion of people out there really hoping that we will someday see Maria on the show in a full-time capacity, and maybe that will happen at some point in the future. However, we can’t see it happening at least this season. This is a woman who has worked on a different coast than her husband Taran Killam for years, so we wouldn’t blame her if she actually wanted to spend some time in the same city as her man for a change. It must be nice!
The new season of “Agents of SHIELD” will be premiering on Tuesday, September 23 on ABC, and producers are mostly being hush-hugh on the story and what you can expect. For the time being, the biggest casting scoop that has been shipped onto the internet is the arrival of “Xena: Warrior Princess” alum Lucy Lawless in some sort of secret role.
