‘Masters of Sex’ season 2, episode 2 preview: Virginia, Bill, and familiar obstacles

What is the problem with Virginia Johnson on “Masters of Sex“? There are truly a pair of them that she is forced to combat with on a close-to-daily basis. For one, she is a woman in a world that is almost entirely occupied by men, and to go along with that, she is a woman without many qualifications on paper. She’s effective, but trying to convince strangers of that is the challenge.

This is what Bill Masters tries to explain to her in the new sneak peek below from Sunday night’s episode. He knows that she’s brilliant, and a valuable part of the study. Also, he’s in love with her. Clearly, he wants her to join him at his new workplace. The problem is convincing the directors that she is really that valuable, even though her name is on the study and clearly she is essential to Bill’s success.

He is trying to convince them of this very fact, but until that happens, Bill and Virginia are facing an unusual situation for the two of them, as they may be forced temporarily to work apart. We cannot imagine this lasting forever, but you can chalk it up to being yet another speed-bump on their current road to happiness. Eventually, we know that they will probably get there … but it’s most likely going to take a little while for that to happen. This is only the second episode of the season, and there are many other obstacles to come. Also, there is a lengthy time jump.
