‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 video: The Queen’s Guard (awesomely) performs theme song
What is it with Queen Elizabeth II and “Game of Thrones” lately? It was not that long ago that the British Monarch visited the show’s set in Northern Ireland, and now her own guard is doing something that we definitely identify with the world “awesome”: Performing the official theme song during a formation.
You can see the entire video below, and we only wish that we could have seen the reaction of some of the onlookers when the music started to play. There were a few cheers, and this was obviously quite an exhibition to watch unfold.
We also feel like there is something more to this than just that. Remember all of those critics out there who proclaim that the Monarchy really is a thing of the past and nothing more? Well, those criticisms probably still exist, but we can only hope that there are at least a few out there who recognize the effort. This is the guard showing that they are at least up with modern pop culture, and can break from tradition time to time to support something that has been substantial to the overall British economy. The series’ production in the Belfast area has dramatically increased tourism much in the same way that “Lord of the Rings” helped much of New Zealand. It is so easy to develop an emotional attachment to a television program, and everyone wants to feel like they can be involved with it in some way or another.
On a scale of 1 to about a million, just how awesome do you find this video to be?
