‘True Blood’ season 7, episode 5 preview: A (brief) Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer scene
The more that “True Blood” dives into this final season, and the more we start to think that the show really wants us to believe that the endgame here at the end of the day could be Sookie Stackhouse and Bill Compton going off into the sunset together. It’s been clear for a while that there are still some feelings there, and the latest sneak peek from HBO is just the latest example of this very thing.
In this preview, Bill shows up at Sookie’s door not only looking like a decent man and not a reformed vampire god who has killed countless people, and he even brings her some flowers! Aww.
Still, it feels like Bill’s going to have some serious work to do in the event that he wants to find a way to ensure that he can ever get back in her good graces. For one, he has to earn her trust back on some sort of substantial level, and doing just a few good things is not enough to do that. This is going to be a marathon for him rather than a race, and he needs to go ahead and prepare for that. Sookie’s also got at least enough respect for Alcide’s memory to not just jump back into the arms of someone else extremely quickly … even if she has been shown to be impulsive at times in the past.
If nothing else, let’s at least rejoice the fact that this season is starting to feel more like vintage “True Blood” again, and not something that is drifting away from the show’s original identity and what it should be about.
