‘The 100’ season 2 spoilers: How many episodes will it have?
For those curious about the official episode count for “The 100” season 2, we come bearing answers. Namely, we come bearing what we think is a particularly great answer given how much network TV tends to push for as much of a good thing as possible.
At The CW’s TCA Summer Press Tour event today, it was confirmed that the sleeper hit will be back for 16 total episodes in this second season, which is going to beg in late October after “The Flash” repeats will get a chance to score some additional sampling following “Arrow.”
For anyone who really wonders whether or not an order of 16 episodes can work effectively, allow us to point you to one specific piece of evidence that it does: “The Walking Dead.” This show has become the #1 drama on TV thanks in part to the way that its episodes air. There are just enough of them for you to feel fulfilled, but not enough of them that you feel like there are many pointless episodes, or that the story is dragging. You may feel a little differently thanks to the billion or so marathons and specials that AMC is putting on right now (not to mention the still-unknown spin-off series), but still.
We are interested to see now how “The 100” fares now that it will have a chance to be treated a little more as a “normal” addition to the schedule, and not just something that was plugged in as a replacement and ran into June, a time when there is nothing on. Maybe it benefited from a lack of competition, or maybe with it airing at a better time it could get a few hundred … thousand … more viewers.
