ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4 spoilers: When will the premiere pick up?
Despite being set over a limited period of time in Ftiz’s Presidency, “Scandal” is a show that has no problem utilizing the occasional time jump. There was a big one that took place in the middle of the show’s second season, and there is also going to be another one that will be particularly notable in the early going for season 4.
Speaking to TVLine, showrunner Shonda Rhimes makes it clear that there will be a lead forward of about two and a half months in between the end of season 3 and the start of season 4, which is pretty important in Presidential time. Think about it for a minute. The third season ended with Election Day, and we’re starting up right now around the time that Fitz would be inaugurated as President yet again. We’re skipping over that little period that nobody really cares about all that much. Plus, seeing an inauguration ceremony on television is always an extremely powerful move.
As for what else will happen during the episode, this at least gives Olivia Pope plenty of time to come back from wherever she was with Jake after hopping aboard that airplane with him. We could see her being someone in serious need of a vacation, but at the same time she is not the sort of person at all who is going to be okay with just taking off to parts unknown, and never being seen or heard from again. She is going to find a way to re-enter the picture and have her voice heard almost without a doubt. She’ll be rested and potentially ready to go.
