Jon Stewart tries to get Hillary Clinton to run for President (video)
Whenever Jon Stewart gets a chance to speak with a high-profile political thinker, fun things tend to happen … especially when this said thinker is none other than Hillary Clinton.
The former Secretary of State was a guest on “The Daily Show” this week, though the vast majority of this interview was spent with him attempting to prod her about whether or not she would consider someday running for President. He even started the interview by saying that her new book Hard Choices happens to be “an incredibly complex and well-reasoned eyewitness view [of her four years as Secretary’] … And I think I speak for everybody, when I say no one cares. They just want to know if you’re running for president.”
Hillary had a quick response prepared for Jon, saying that she was thinking about making the announcement there on the show tonight, but because he went and snatched some of the fun out from under her, she is going to reconsider and think about doing it at a different point in the future.
From here, Stewart basically took her through what was almost an application of sorts for the job, reading all of the various responsibilities that she would have and asking if she would be okay with some of them. Our favorite question came when he asked her if there was a certain shape of office that she would prefer to be in.
Given all of the speculation that Hillary is currently putting up with, we do imagine right now that she is at least considering a run. However, it’s also 2014! There are two more years before there is even an election to worry about, and that is something she can figure out better at that time.
