‘Chicago PD’ season 2 spoilers: The premiere title is…

While it may still be a little early in the “Chicago PD” production cycle to start giving away every big secret pertaining to the show, we can at least hand out this today: The rather obscure title for the upcoming season 2 premiere.

In a new post on his Twitter account, series developer Derek Haas made it clear that the title for the first episode (coming up this September) is entitled “Call It Macaroni.” He claimed that it’d make sense around the time the episode aired, but in our own research, we have only been able to find out thing to connect the name to:

Yankee Doodle went to town
Riding on a pony;
He stuck a feather in his hat,
And called it macaroni

Thank goodness for all the times we remember hearing the song “Yankee Doodle” as a kid, since we would otherwise have no recollection of this at all. The song of course has many more lyrics than this, and was a popular Revolutionary War ballad. As for how any of this connects to the episode, that’s still what we’re guessing about. Maybe it has no connection to this at all and our children’s poetry lessons are deceiving us.

In the end, we’re mostly just grateful that there will not be some sort of need to wait an insanely long period of time before the second season premieres. You get a full-season order this time, which means more cases, more police politics, and also more opportunities to cross over with the other Dick Wolf productions airing on NBC.

What do you think about the title for this episode? Let us know some of your thoughts in the comments now.
