‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 spoilers: What nefarious foe may return?
Even though “Game of Thrones” season 4 did a number of extremely awesome things during the time that it was on the air, we also know that there were a few other assorted things here and there that some were hoping to see. Some of them may never happen on the show, whereas others feel like they have to be resolved eventually.
One of these things just so happens to be Walder Frey. Given the guy’s history and actions at the Red Wedding, it seems next to impossible that he will be removed from the series forever. Actor David Bradley seems to agree, since he told IGN recently that there have at least been discussions about him coming back:
“I bumped into David Benioff and a few of the Starks that I, um, got rid of at Comic Con in San Diego last year, and we all had a meal and a drink. And they said, “Oh, we’ll be seeing you again soon.” Obviously not in the fourth season, but I’m sure there’s some kind of retribution waiting for me somewhere down the line. But I like to think he gets away with it. [laughs]”
(Warning: There are some book spoilers ahead.)
We know that there are some other there who are fans of Lady Stoneheart, and would like to assume that this is evidence of something good for her character returning. However, given the frequent denials from Michelle Fairley about this, we imagine that this is probably not happening. Maybe the show has a different endgame planned out for House Frey versus what we saw in the George R.R. Martin stories.
