‘The View’: Jenny McCarthy on Rosie O’Donnell joining show

The View -Just as it didn’t take long for Donald Trump to make his thoughts pretty clear on Rosie O’Donnell becoming the latest person to join “The View,” Jenny McCarthy has also been quick to come out with some statements of her own on the subject.

Rather than being altogether critical of the show or the hire, though, the just-departed cast member largely chose to keep things positive in a chat with Us Weekly. She admitted that she was a big fan of Rosie, but also said that this is clearly a move by ABC to ensure that there is as much drama on the show as possible:

“I knew they were looking to bring some heat to the table and there is no doubt that with Rosie there will be some heat … They are definitely going in the direction of fire. … I will be there with my beer and popcorn at 11 in the morning. I can’t wait to see how it plays out.”

We feel like all of this is probably true when it comes to getting Rosie on board, but the amount of “fire” still is going to largely depend on who some of the other people are that the show brings on board. For example, there is no real “fire” at all if everyone is of the same sort of political leaning as Rosie or Whoopi Goldberg. The show will need to find some other people with strong (and differing) opinions. We’ve heard the name Meghan McCain thrown out on a few blogs here and there, and that could be an interesting one since she comes from a very different world than either of these two ladies.
