TV Quick Hits: Christopher Walken in ‘Peter Pan,’ ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ mystery, ‘South Park’ news
Christopher Walken joins “Peter Pan” – NBC has just announced their first major casting for their upcoming stage production of “Peter Pan” coming out later this year: Christopher Walken. The iconic actor is going to play the iconic character of Captain Hook.
We like the casting from a star power level, though it’s hard to really know much more before we see what the show chooses to make as their interpretation for the character. Much of our opinion of Hook right now has been somewhat corrupted by the “Once Upon a Time” character played by Colin O’Donoghue. The show has made him a much more sympathetic figure.
Where is “The Celebrity Apprentice”? – Apparently, NBC does not understand that this is one of our favorite shows ever from a mere trainwreck perspective. The network was at TCA today, and they refused to give much of an update or a premiere date for the new season of the show. All we know for certain right now is that production on a new season is complete, and that Kate Gosselin and Kenya Moore are allegedly a part of the cast.
Our guess? NBC is waiting to see how their new series fare, and it could be a midseason replacement for one of them. Personally, we’d prefer it in the summer, mostly because it could do okay rating without all of the competition.
“South Park” picked up on Hulu – In the battle of the streaming service providers, Hulu just scored a huge win in scoring the entire back catalog of “South Park.” All 240+ episodes will stream for free until the show returns on September 24, and from then on new episodes and old ones from past seasons will be available to Hulu Plus subscribers. There are also a select few that will be made available for free.
