’30 Rock’ alum Tracy Morgan finally heading home, suing Walmart over crash

Tracy Jordan -Over a month after an accident in New Jersey severely injured him and took the life of comedian James McNair, Tracy Morgan is finally heading back home. This has been after spending weeks in a hospital, and then additional weeks at a rehabilitation center trying to get himself recovered enough to move around after nearly losing his life.

This weekend, a representative for the “30 Rock” alum issued a statement saying that Tracy “has been released from the rehabilitation center and will continue his recovery efforts at home with an aggressive outpatient program,” and that the comic “asked me to pass along his sincerest gratitude to everyone who has helped him get to this point.”

This news is coming out a day after it was also revealed that Morgan was going to be filing a lawsuit against Walmart, after their employee Kevin Roper allegedly was falling asleep at the wheel at the time of the crash. Per The Hollywood Reporter, here is what a statement in this case reads:

“Walmart was careless and negligent in the ownership and operation of its motor vehicle, which caused Mr. Morgan to suffer severe personal injuries … As a direct and proximate result of said collision, Mr. Morgan was caused to sustain severe painful bodily injuries, including but not limited to multiple fractures which required multiple surgeries, extensive medical treatment and will require significant physical rehabilitation.”

Walmart has stated repeatedly that they will do the research and do what is right for the families involved in the accident if their is culpability on their end. The lawsuit claims that they should have known that Roper would have been awake for an extended period of time based on his planned route, and also that there were many distribution centers closer to his home than the one he was routed to.
