‘True Detective’ season 2 spoilers: Could Taylor Kitsch join Colin Ferrell in cast?
Yesterday, the news came out that the HBO series was in deep discussions with Colin Ferrell about him taking the lead role on the show, which clearly paid big dividends for both Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson when they did it earlier this year. (Just look at the Emmy nominations.) Now, The Wrap reports that Taylor Kitsch, who had a great career on “Friday Night Lights” and has done great things since, is in talks to play one of the other three important roles on the show.
To us, we don’t have to spend a lot of time here guessing whether or not we feel like HBO made the right call with this casting. We feel like Taylor is a brilliantly-talented guy, and they have to be happy that they could pick him up for this. The great thing for him as an actor here, as well, is that this is work for several months that is of the highest quality, and is not going to block him from doing other things in the future like some TV will. For the longest time, one of the reasons why many people shied away from doing shows was because of the contract, which required you to sign on for six years in order to really come on board. The model of these anthology shows like “Fargo” and “American Horror Story” has changed that, and definitely for the better.
What do you think: Could Kitsch be the perfect edition to this close-to-perfect show? Let us know in the comments.
