‘The View’: Of course, Donald Trump chimes in on Rosie O’Donnell
How long did you think that it would take Donald Trump to chime in with his thoughts on Rosie O’Donnell joining “The View“? If your answer was “not long at all,” then congratulations you win, enjoy your bragging rights and many “I told you so’s”.
Trump made his first public response on the matter to the New York Daily News, (we are sure to expect many more since this is Trump we are talking about here) using what is one of his famous techniques in the massive backhanded compliment in order to do so:
“I think it’s a good move on ABC’s part … It’ll have a short term positive effect. The show has really missed not having Barbara (Walters) on it. With that said, it’ll have a short term positive impact, but then you have the long term. Rosie always self-destructs.”
Translation: This is a good move, but also a terrible move with no redeeming quality to it at all. The funny thing here is that we somewhat agree with him. Rosie on “The View” again will probably give the show a shot of energy and of ratings right away, but how many of these people are actually going to stick around to watch the entire series moving forward? Once the headlines and the fights with Elisabeth Hasselbeck are over, there is just a normal show again. That’s going to be difficult unless ABC goes and hires someone with a differing voice than Rosie and Whoopi Goldberg to actually make the show dramatic.
ABC is probably not in a hurry to figure out who their other panelists are going to be; it would not surprise us at all if many weeks go by without another announcement at all.
