‘Mad Men’ season 7: Christina Hendricks on Emmy nomination, ’emotional’ time
The Emmys were not necessarily that great to “Mad Men” last year than in the past, but they more than made up for it this time around. Not only did the AMC series score a Drama Series nod, but Jon Hamm and Christina Hendricks were among the cast members who received some love in the acting categories.
Is this a guarantee that either one of them will win? Hardly, given that the show has a reputation at this point of not doing very well taking home acting trophies despite getting plenty of nominations. Still, sometimes it’s nice to just get this much attention, especially in a tough time like what Hendricks was going through this week.
Speaking to USA Today, Hendricks claims that getting this love right now “feels sort of particularly special. We just wrapped last week. We had a very, very emotional week. We’ve been doing this for eight years together. To finish it and feel really proud of how we finished and spend an entire day saying thank yous to one another — it feels particularly special.”
The funny thing is now that there could still be another opportunity for this “special” feeling to come in the future. Thanks to the way that AMC divided up the final season of the show (controversial as that may be), everyone is going to once again be eligible to win awards again in 2015. Given that it is the swan song for the show, that may be when some of these people actually have a big chance of walking away with trophies … especially since there is no more “Breaking Bad” to worry about.
