‘NCIS’ season 12: Michael Weatherly ready for what lies ahead
“NCIS” fans, now is the time to start getting ready for what lies ahead. At this point next week, the CBS show will be back at work on its 12th season, a tremendous achievement in the first place given that so few shows make it to this point. It’s also an interesting time for the show since the writers have had a full summer now to create a story without having a state of flux surrounding them.
Always the one to tease, Michael Weatherly of course wouldn’t give you a full picture of everything that is going to be coming up ahead on season 12 in a new post on Twitter. However, he did say just enough to make you potentially intrigued on where things could go from here:
“Season 12: DiNozzo finally gets his act together? One week until filming starts and I am… excited!”
If nothing else, we feel like season 12 will be the season where Tony defines himself again in his new circumstances. Ziva is seemingly gone, and while producers may or may not opt to bring Cote de Pablo back at some point, the Tony character isn’t omniscient and cannot spend all of his time thinking about the past (though we wouldn’t mind a mention of it every few episodes or so). He has to just make the best of whatever situation is presented to him. We saw some great Tony moments near the end of the season in “The Admiral’s Daughter,” and hopefully that will set the stage for a guy who will throw himself into action through the stories ahead, and also continue to build upon the friendships that he has already established within the team.
We’re of course going to have more detailed “NCIS” analysis in the weeks ahead, so be sure to keep a lookout for all of that. You can at least now look back on some other past updates at this link, and sign up now to get some further TV updates via our CarterMatt Newsletter.

I wish Tony would get promoted. He has been suffocating in that same job for too many years.

He is not going to get promoted. At this point this is a has been show where they will continually repeat the same stories over and over again. Ziva was the most interesting character whereas the rest of the characters are pretty much the same for the past decade and have no interesting stories to tell. Tony might have matured due to Ziva but they have once again taken him back to his Season 2 immaturity. Without Ziva there Tony and the other characters will continually fall flat.

Tony did not mature because of Ziva. If anything, he was dumbed down and made a clown because of her, so that she could look better and score points off him. MW himself said in an interview that he enjoyed not being “the idiot child in the corner” last season.

He was not dumbed down because of Ziva. He is and continues to be dumbed down to make Gibbs look good. His character suffers due to harmon’s character. It was NEVER because of the Ziva character.

The only what interseting for me, that he come together with Ziva. The only way to watch this show. If not good bye NCIS, the S11 I do not see, goodbye Michael Weatherly too, no longer confiance in him. Even people tell that’s only a show. This people are only superficiel. Too bad it was a nice show. In moment it’s only dozen ware.

Natalie, I think those who feel as you do should grow up and live in reality. Cote de Pablo did not make NCIS what it is. It was established before she showed up. It is still number 1, so having Cote leave has made little, if any difference. Cote did leave of her own choice. She wanted a 1 year contract as well as a pay rise which they offered her and she declined it. The big companies like CBS, Fox etc don’t make 1 year contracts after the debarcle with the televison show Friends. Cote wanted this because of family pressure to marry and have a child. Also her boyfriend Diego had an acting job elsewhere, and she wanted to beable to have the time to go and see him. In the end she chose him over NCIS.Her interviews also clearly hinted that she wanted to do something else with her life, but no body was listening. The Mossad line was finished anyway when they killed off her father. Love stories and situations come and go all the time in show business. Tiva was never going to be anyway. Get over it. Do you think Cote wants her fans to stop watching the show that made her famous? I bet she doesn’t.

Hey, thank you, you are so good informed. Can I ask you if you are member of Cote’s family, or are your part of Cote’s mind? If let us all know how we can contact you. Or are you paid from network? And only not honest enough to say?

I beg your pardon. No I am not a memebr of Cote’s family nor am I paid by anyone. I said what I know to be the truth. Many in here obviously don’t read the interview blogs done by the director and the ones done with the cast.

She did not marry or have a child. Diego did not have an acting job elsewhere, at least according to IMDB. Where are you getting this information? source please? She tried to negotiate a contract which demonstrates intent to stay. If she REALLY wanted to do something else at that moment, she would not have negotiated, that’s stupid. I’m sure she wanted to do more in the future but CBS forced her hand. It is what it is.

Yes Cote came onto an established show in it’s third season. In it’s first season NCIS highest viewership eps were 14.51 and 14.0 million viewers with an average of about 12 million viewers.. In the second season it’s highest eps were 15.29, 15.65, and 15.4 million with an average about 14 million. Nice growth. Season 3 after Cote appeared, highest eps 18.01, 18.08 and 18.17 million with an average of 16.5 million Wow! Now I’m not going to claim that the big bump was because of Cote but she sure didn’t hurt things as some fans claim. Numbers are the Nielsen numbers at Wikipedia.

Don’t get it, you say you “love Michael and I love Tony” but you won’t watch the very show that’s got them in!! Seriously, why the hell not? Ever heard of cutting off your nose to spite your face??????

I love Michael and Tony. I can’t stand the new character. I am still watching but it is a chore.

Maybe because the show is not worth it. I used to like the rest of the cast but realized this year that they were somewhat weak without Cote there. I think Cote really helped improve their acting and now that she is gone they are an average cast and definitely not something I would invest my time in when there are so many other options. Shows need to be able to leave you with the desire to watch more. The show with Cote always left me wanting more and would continually rewatch it. I do not even remember the show without Cote exists much less take time out of my schedule to watch it because it is just not worth it.

you know, as much as I have loved NCIS for years and years, and more years, it just isn’t worth the hassle for me anymore. I loved Ziva and I loved Tiva and that was my main motivation to watch the show. I feel like CBS et al took that away from me as a viewer, and I will not reward them for poor decision making by continuing to watch a show that should have been better right now. There is absolutely no reason for me to believe that Cote de Pablo WANTED to leave NCIS, and CBS or whomever made the decision not to meet her requirements made a mistake in not doing so. I still watch the reruns and love the storyline up until the end of s10. I could even forgive Glasberg for the wretched ending of Ziva’s story if they brought her back appropriately. But for now- unless and until Cote returns to the show- I’m done with it. I love Michael and I love Tony, but all the other characters to me are just white noise without Ziva. There may never be anything like the Tiva storyline on tv again, but that isn’t enough to keep me tied to a has-been show.
