‘Ray Donovan’ season 2, episode 1 preview: A look at Hank Azaria’s debut
Are you ready for Sunday night’s premiere of “Ray Donovan”? It’s been a long time coming, but there is a ton to look forward to with the show’s return. Hank Azaria is going to be around in an important role that harkens back to last season, and it also puts Ray in a position where he has to track down his father. As we’ve learned time and time again with this show, that is not going to be easy.
As the official press release from Showtime gives it away, all of these threads are going to come to a head early, which is not that typical for a season premiere. Rather than taking its time to build into something, this series is going to jump right into it in between some physical altercations and a rescue mission:
“When the head of the Los Angeles FBI (Hank Azaria) learns that Ray and Mickey were part of the killing of Sully Sullivan he demands that Ray bring his father in. Mickey, however, is in Mexico, where he is setting up a fight for Ray’s half-brother, Daryll. Abby, concerned that Ray won’t face his abuse, has forced him to go to therapy with her. On the same day, Ray has to rescue his client Deonte (Moe McRae), a pro baller, from a violent confrontation between Deonte’s wife and an American Idol finalist. Bunchy has a job interview at a bicycle shop while Terry obsesses over his ex-girlfriend. Conor lands in hot water after assaulting a classmate. In the end, Ray heads to Mexico to bring Mickey back to Los Angeles, but finds Mickey isn’t eager to leave.”
