2014 Emmys: ‘Scandal’ season 4 stars Kerry Washington, Joe Morton react
Take a look at some of the reactions below, via TVLine, social media, and official statements.
Joe Morton (Guest Actor in a Drama) – “I was in our basement, working out and watching CNN, when they announced that the nominations were over. I thought, ‘Well, the phone hasn’t rung, so…’ — and no sooner did I say that did the phone start ringing with the good news.”
Kerry Washington (Actress in a Drama) – “I’m so honored to be nominated. And so thrilled for [fellow nominees] Joe Morton and Kate Burton! I’m crazy grateful that the TV Academy has acknowledged our show in these ways.”
Shonda Rhimes, executive producer – “Yay for @kerrywashington and @JOEtheMORTON and Kate Burton! #Scandal #Emmys We couldn’t be prouder!”
The most egregious snub among the cast was probably Bellamy Young, who was sensational as Mellie Grant. Unfortunately, she is in a crowded field of supporting actresses, and with shows like “Downton Abbey” continuing to have a stranglehold on that category, it becomes tough for everyone else.
