‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6 spoilers: A small (but effective) scoop on Paul Wesley’s Stefan

“The Vampire Diaries” is a show that seems to revolve mostly around a few simple things: relationships, surprises, and deaths. Almost every thing that transpires on the series that is important falls into one of those three categories.

So how about a surprising reaction to a possible death? Sometimes, these categories can overlap a little bit … and that seems to very much be what is happening with Stefan. According to TVLine, Paul Wesley’s character is going to make a choice during the premiere that will raise many eyebrows. He is going to be reeling from what he believes to be the death of his brother Damon, so of course his brain is going to be spiraling a little bit. That is when he decides to seek comfort from a pretty unexpected source.

It is the unexpected part of this statement that has us reeling a little bit, mostly because at this point, we would definitely file him hooking up or getting close to either Elena or Caroline as “expected.” There is already that elaborate sort of history there with both of them; while he hasn’t technically gotten romantic with Caroline yet, there is enough buildup and longing there that a hookup would only probably surprise those who are completely blind to what has been going on there for almost the past season or so.

More than anything, we just hope that Stefan has a fantastic, consistent storyline. There have been many times in the past where we have felt like his story has bounced from one place to another without a whole lot of direction.
