‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 7 teaser: Charlie Hunnam’s Jax rides alone
Just in case you were holding out some sort of crazy hope that “Sons of Anarchy” would somehow live on past season 7, the first season 7 promo from FX below makes it even more definitive that this is the final ride for Jax Teller and company.
We’re not going to say that this promo is particularly informative, but it is pretty awesome and symbolic at the same time. Charlie Hunnam’s character is shown on a ride at night, but distinctly by himself. There’s no sign of Chibs, Juice, Tig, or anyone else; not only that, but Jax’s head occasionally flashes to a skull.
We suppose that those who want to read a ridiculous large amount into everything can look at this and somehow interpret it as evidence that Jax is going to meet an untimely death this season, but we don’t necessarily think that is for sure the case even with the “Hamlet” inspiration for the show. There are also fates and endings for Jax that are far worse than death. We interpret the sight of his skull as his emptiness, and how in the wake of Tara’s death, there is no more substance (and possibly nothing else that can be identified as good) within him. There is only despair, and no one within SAMCRO can fill that empty void now.
The promo, which will make its TV debut during tonight’s “Tyrant,” does not give you a firm premiere date. Instead, it simply reads “Fall.” Our assumption is that the show will return during the second week in September, if for no other reason than that this is when all other seasons of the season have started up.
Yesterday, we posted the full list of cast members who are going to be appearing on the show moving forward. Head over here to check it out. Also, sign up now to get some other TV updates now via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
