‘America’s Got Talent’ preview: Why the long wait?

The full review -What’s going on right now with “America’s Got Talent“? It’s an interesting question, given that this is one of the most-successful series on all of summer television.

Yet, the show has an interesting strategy going when it comes to how it wants to run new episodes versus repeats. The next new episode, per the show’s own official page on YouTube, is not until Tuesday, July 15. Why the wait? The only real explanation here is that the show wants to ensure that there are new episodes that run through the rest of the summer, and this is one of the best ways to do that.

Typically, “America’s Got Talent” tries out a couple of other methods to ensure that it runs most of the summer. There are some seasons that the show does not start until later in June so that there is no real need for a lengthy break, and there are some others (namely once every four seasons) that the show, thanks to the Olympics, takes a little bit of a break. Since it started early this year and there is no Olympics to worry about, this is the situation that we’re left in.

Will most of the viewers stick around? Probably. The show has been on the air long enough now that it has established a pretty devoted audience. However, at the same time one of the issues that you do have to think about here is whether or not you are going to remember some of the acts from early in the season by around the time the live shows start. For example, one of the only acts we remember from the premiere was the hilarious Dustin’s Dojo, and we know there are plenty out there who don’t find it remotely entertaining at all.
