‘Beauty and the Beast’ season 2 finale spoilers: A dive into the past
Flashbacks have become extremely common in the world of television, but we have to say here that the vast majority of the time, these flashbacks do not turn out quite like the one that will be featured in the “Beauty and the Beast” finale on Monday night.
Typically when a show looks back on earlier times with different characters, they tend to at least cast some different people for the roles. Not the case here. Instead, we have Kristin Kreuk, Jay Ryan, and the rest of the cast Monday night playing “ancestors,” in addition to them being the characters in the present. It’s a little cheesy, and possibly an easy way to save some cash on the budget, but there is a certain amount of fun to it. This way, there is also no mistaking the sort of cyclical theme that some things really do not ever change.
The interesting discussion point here that may be somewhat lost is how this could end up playing into the overall story. There is not really that much known right now about how the past will shape the present, except that there may be something in here that allows Cat to see that she can stop Gabe without hurting Vincent in the process. That is the central dilemma going into the finale; Gabe is off in full-on evil mode, and there does not appear to be on the surface and sort of sensible solution to taking him down.
