‘Under the Dome’ season 2 spoilers: Look to the stars
“Under the Dome” loves its mysteries and symbols, and you can probably get a sense of that just from the fact that the dome, the very thing in the show’s title, is one of them.
Throughout the first season, the characters in Chester’s Mill had to deal with all sorts of odds and ends, from newcomers to a mini-dome to other powers and oddities in the town. That is continuing now in the second season, and there are some specific things that you should keep watch over. As executive producer Neal Baer tells TV Guide, “we’re going to see [the stars] in a way that gives us more information.” Also, that egg that Julie dropped into the lake is going to come back and play a role, as well.
As for what any of this could mean, we are mostly in uncharted waters right now. The writers finally have the luxury of knowing that this is not a show with a specific ending to it at the end of the season, and they are not following the letter of the law when it comes to the book. This is a good thing in the long run, provided of course that they have come up with their own explanations and answers. Otherwise, we are looking at something that could be a letdown.
If you think we are done, though, when it comes to new symbols being presented on the show, think again. More will almost surely be coming up later.
We’re still optimistic about the show after the premiere, and we have a feeling that some good things are coming up. Want to know more more of what you have to look forward to? I genuinely like this show and hope it continues but I do have to question whether the writers (not King) have any idea what the show’s supposed to be or if they’re just winging it every few episodes…with no clear direction.
I can’t confidently say that this one is a show that even knows where it’s headed. King’s version, the book version knew where it was going and it went there…but the tv series isn’t the book version so it does tend to feel like they said “oh, hey, a dome lands on a city and all of King’s characters are trapped…now what else can we do” more like fan fiction going off the rails or like those ongoing write as you go stories by a bunch of people.
I start with this paragraph and the someone comes after and writes another paragraph, and then another one writes the next paragraph – that sort of thing is how UTD tends to look and makes me nervous they have no idea either, which will mean the show gets cancelled when it could’ve had some self discipline and creative flow…
