‘Game of Thrones’ season 5 spoilers: Maisie Williams wants more of The Hound
By all intensive purposes, it looks like Rory McCann’s days are done on “Game of Thrones.” Is this a shame? Definitely. The Hound is one of the show’s more-complicated characters, and while there was plenty of terrible things on his resume, he ultimately did become a bizarre sort of father figure to Arya Stark. Then, for Arya to leave him there to die, it was almost like she took some of his lessons about no mercy a little too close to heart.
Despite whatever Arya may feel about this character right now, there is one thing that we can say with the utmost of certainty: Maisie Williams would definitely love to see him back, along with a number of Arya’s other past companions, including Syrio. Speaking about this very subject to Vulture, she had the following to say:
“All theories that I hope for, just like everyone else! I really hope that it’s not the end of the Hound. We haven’t gotten the scripts for next year yet, so I honestly don’t know what’s going to happen, either, but in terms of speculation? If it was up to me, and it’s not up to me, unfortunately, but the Hound would be back in a second. And so would Syrio. They wouldn’t be gone. I would love to work with both of them again, Rory [McCann] and Miltos [Yerolemou]. I think if you haven’t seen the dagger in their back, they could still be alive, so I’m hoping that they’re going to come back. In an ideal world, they’d all come back.”
The thing that is interesting about the future of the show, and of the Arya character, is that we do see it now as more open-ended when lined up next to the books than we once did. With some of the changes that have been made on the show, we’ve learned already that the series is not interested in being completely strict to George R.R. Martin’s work. Therefore, almost anything can happen from here on out.

You do know that the expression is “By all intents and purposes” – not “intensive purposes” right?
