‘Mad Men’ season 7: Jon Hamm, January Jones, more celebrate end of filming
Now is the time that you can start getting genuinely emotional if you are a big-time fan of “Mad Men.” After so many years and a long journey with all of these characters, filming for the series on AMC has finally come to and end.
While it may seem easy to label this a seven-year journey, it has actually been around a decade or so for most of these actors since the first got a glimpse at the story. The biggest reason for that is because there was a sizable time between the filming of the pilot and the first season, and also because of that lengthy hiatus that came out of the negotiations between the network, Lionsgate, and show creator Matthew Weiner. This is all for a show that at first was watched mostly just by critics, and most others had no idea what it was. It never became the commercial hit that “Breaking Bad” did, but it remains one of the more lucrative series on cable thanks to its wealthy viewership, and also the sheer fact that advertising is at the center of the show’s premise.
Late last month, many of the cast and crew members all congregated together in order to properly send the show off into the sunset, and this included the likes of Jon Hamm (Don), January Jones (Betty), Vincent Kartheiser (Pete), and many more. While Jessica Pare was there, don’t take this as a sure-fire sign that Megan is still a major part of the final seven episodes after she and Don finally seemed to come to an understanding that there was nothing left for him. After all, other characters could fall off the map or die before the finale, as well. We just lost Robert Morse’s Cooper.
