‘Arrow’ season 3: Stephen Amell not appearing in ‘Batman v Superman’

See Oliver -Are the worlds of the DC feature films and the television show connected like it is with Marvel? This is something that there has been an extensive debate over from multiple angles.

One of the big questions for almost a year now thanks to this is whether or not Stephen Amell would be crossing over from “Arrow” to the big “Batman v Superman” blockbuster when it hits theaters. We remember back at Fan Expo Canada last year him saying that he’d want to be involved in a “Justice League,” so when he posted cryptic messages about big “Arrow” announcements coming at Comic-Con, the internet freaked out.

However, Amell took to his Facebook today to deny that any such involvement was happening, at least with the upcoming movie with Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck:

Hey Guys — I appreciate all the support and enthusiasm, but not everything I post is a cryptic indicator that I’m going to be in Batman V Superman. I’m not going to be in Batman V Superman …  it’s not a barometer on ability or the quality of genre – TV V Film, no pun intended. Everything here boils down to logistics. In any event… thank you for how much support you’ve showed me. But keep in mind, playing Arrow on television isn’t a consolation prize. We play the definitive versions of our characters in the DC Universe.”

If we’re being honest, we don’t feel like they should be since that gives the television world so much more to work with. If they want to have their own Batman or other character, they can so long as DC signs off on it. This also opens up a chance for a Harley Quinn appearance on “Arrow” when we would have a much harder time getting one otherwise.

Also, we’d take the TV universe right now over the big screen any day. TV has the luxury of telling more complex stories, while films seem to be getting more and more bogged down in big explosions and celebrity cameos.

We’re much happier for now to focus on “Arrow” season 3, especially since there has been so much news out there about it over the past few days. Want to get even more updates now on all we cover? Then sign up for our CarterMatt Newsletter.
