‘Gotham’ spoilers: ‘Dancing with the Stars’ favorite, Oscar nominee join

Bruno Heller and the whole team at “Gotham” are certainly staying creative when it comes to casting the upcoming series, picking some names that we never imagined to be on the call sheet.

No offense to Kyle Massey (given that we loved him on “Dancing with the Stars”), but he is one of them who wasn’t even on our radar. That is why we are pleased to report, per TVLine, that he has signed on to play the role of Macky for at least one episode on the show. He is described as a street-dweller in Gotham City who has a history of being abused and left alone. It’s a sad story, and we’re interested to see how the typically-energetic Massey plays it. Obviously, there are going to be many out there in the internet community who start to wonder if this name is code for someone else, and if this character is meant to be a younger version of a potential villain.

As for the other new casting announced recently, the site also reports that Oscar-nominated actress Carol Kane has been brought on board the show, and will play the part of Gertrud Kapelput, the mother of Oswald Cobblepot (who you know better as the Penguin). We cannot expect this role being too expansive, but she will probably make the most of it.

There are few shows out there this fall that intrigue us as much as “Gotham,” but there is a difference between being intrigued and full-on excited. The main thing that we are worried about right now is simply whether or not the show is going to have enough stories to tell that feel new, since Batman and Commissioner Gordon have been very played out already. It’s a little different than “The Flash,” which hasn’t been done on TV or film in a long stretch of time.
