‘Under the Dome’ season 2, episode 2 preview: ‘Infestation,’ violence, and fatigue
The season 2 premiere of “Under the Dome” fared just about as well as almost anyone would have assumed that it would, given that this is a show that did not have a strong finish to season 1. The lower ratings this summer reflected that, though it was still easily enough to be #1 Monday night by a sizable margin.
So what lies ahead now? We’ve already seen some deaths (including Linda’s), further “dome incidents,” and a nail shooting through someone’s hand in a way that feels very appropriate for a Stephen King show. All of this leads us to the second episode of the season entitled “Infestation” with Big Jim still alive, with another new crisis facing the residents of Chester’s Mill. Let’s start by discussing the synopsis below:
“Barbie risks his life to help Rebecca save the Chester’s Mill food supply when she discovers an infestation of butterfly eggs on the town’s crops.”
Personally, the “chore of the week” storyline does not really interest us, mostly because we imagine that Barbie could theoretically do something like this for ten years if the show really wanted to last for that long. What has our attention a little more than that is Angie’s end having a profound impact on so many others, and Joe deciding to take some matters into his own hands in a way that he really shouldn’t. File this guy under the list of people who should not have a gun in this town. It’s a pretty long list at this point.
