‘Downton Abbey’ season 5: A fashionable outing for Michelle Dockery, Laura Carmichael, more

What's up next? -Do you want to know when you’ve definitely “made it” as far as being a hit TV show? When your entire female cast gets an opportunity to cover a magazine and show off some of the biggest names in fashion.

This is exactly what happened when it comes to “Downton Abbey,” as the likes of Michelle Dockery, Laura Carmichael, Lily James, Lesley Nicol, Elizabeth McGovern, and more all graced the main page of Harper’s Bazaar. (You can see some of the photos from the shoot over at the Huffington Post.) It does not surprise us in the slightest that the ladies were in demand for the publication there, given the demographic, and that this is without question a global show. This means the potential for more sales!

If you are looking for a specific quote from the publication, take a look at what Dockery in particular had to say about one aspect of the show she particularly enjoys: The way that creator / writer Julian Fellowes crafts stories for some of the ladies:

“Julian [Fellowes, the writer of “Downton Abbey”] writes so well for women … He’s got a very good way with families. We’re all very lucky that we’re playing roles that are very complex, not just two-dimensional and predictable.”

We have seen that play out in multiple ways in the past year alone, whether it be Edith’s decision to keep her child close by and be able to visit with regularity, or Mary not feeling the pressure to immediately choose another mate after the death of Matthew. Instead, she is allowing herself the chance to grieve while taking her time to plan the future properly.

The new season of “Downton Abbey” will premiere on ITV in September, but in case you missed it, you can click here to watch the latest promo. Also, sign up to get some additional news and updates now via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
