‘The Leftovers’ episode 1 preview: In the middle of the action

“The Leftovers” will finally be here on HBO come tomorrow night at 10:00 p.m. Eastern, but why wait in order to see some more of what you can expect from the show? We know that most of the previews choose to understandably hype up the rapture-like event that is the reason for the rest of the story, but the reality is that it makes up such a tiny percentage of what we are actually going to see on the series.

The bulk of the tale is going to be focused much more on what happens after the fact, and how the rest of the world copes with the sudden departure of these people. Justin Theroux stars in both the series and the sneak peek below, as he tries to use what power he has as a police officer against protests.

The biggest thing that we would caution you about now is that this is not a show out to answer where in the world these people are. If you go into it expecting this sort of answer, you’ll be more disappointed than anything else. It’s more about the journey, and about themes of faith and desperation in an explicable time. This all sounds like ripe Damon Lindelof material, so we’re going to be hoping for the best from this. The man has already enriched our life greatly with both “Lost” and also Twitter, even though he no longer has much to do with either one of them.

What do you want to see on the premiere for “The Leftovers” tomorrow night, and do you feel as excited as you want to be for the show? (We understand if some trepidation is still holding you back given the amount of high-concept shows on right now.) Share below.
