‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ spoilers: Kathy Bates on filming, characters
Want to know who Kathy Bates is playing on “American Horror Story: Freak Show“? So do we, but unfortunately, she is keeping her mouth shut on that right now.
Even though you may be bummed about that, we do still have a couple of other nice treats from one of the best actors out there, and hopefully someone who has an even greater role this time around than she did last season. Speaking to BuzzFeed while promoting her film “Tammy,” Bates gave her reaction to Sarah Paulson playing a two-headed woman, and also talked about when filming will begin in New Orleans:
“I mean, I’m surprised that Sarah Paulson came out with that she has two heads. I was like, ‘What?!’ But I think it’s Ryan [Murphy] who disseminates that information when and where he wants to. I know he’s talked about the fact that we’re a freak show, and we’re sort of in the last days of the freak show … It’s in the late 1950s in Jupiter, FL, and I know what my character looks like, but I don’t know anything else about her. In fact, I’ve just gone to costume fittings, and we’re still developing the character. I haven’t seen the script yet, and we start shooting in the middle of July, so time’s a-wastin’!”
We’ve known for some time that Michael Chiklis was going to play someone with personal ties to her character, but we also found out this week that he will be a strong man with a twist. One of the fun things about this season has been the variety of freak show characters out there that Ryan and the writers can choose from for each actor. Maybe there are so we won’t see coming, but there are also some common archetypes.
