‘The View’ officially loses Jenny McCarthy; Whoopi Goldberg sole remaining panelist
We had a feeling that this was going to be coming before the end of the night, and it’s now official: Jenny McCarthy will be on “The View” no more.
McCarthy had tipped her hat earlier in the evening by saying that she was going to leave the show if Sherri Shepherd was to depart, and that news became clear pretty early on in the evening. With Barbara Walters being on the show Friday and the writing being definitely on the wall, it only made sense for McCarthy to get ahead of the drama and announce her departure before someone else could. Here is what she had to write in a pair of posts on Twitter:
“My View will be changing too. As will with many hard working folks … Thanks to everyone at the show for your dedication and an amazing year.”
One thing that we do particularly like about Jenny’s statement is her acknowledgement that there are other people involved in this exit beyond herself. There are multiple jobs at stake with any big change, and this is no exception. McCarthy has tried a variety of different shows, including one on VH1, this one, and of course “Singled Out” back in the 1990s on MTV.
ABC, meanwhile, has released their own statement saying that they have made some difficult decisions in order to change the course of the show’s future. We are expecting a radical shake-up, with male panelists and possibly a new tone as a whole. “The Talk” has been the superior program to us for about two years now, largely because of their chemistry. This show, on the other hand, had next to none this past season.
