‘Covert Affairs’ season 5 spoilers: Who from Annie’s past is returning?

Love surprises? Then you may very well love this one when it comes to “Covert Affairs” season 5.

TVLine confirms that Oded Fehr is going to be reprising his role of Mossad Agent Eyal, a man with a deep connection to Annie Walker’s past, on at least one episode of the season moving forward. That is big news for those who loved the connection these two had, and even rooted for them just as as much or more than they did Annie or Auggie.

With that being said, we would be remiss if we were to say that this is a guarantee that something romantic was happening between the two of them. That is still up in the air. What we can tell you is that the return of Eyal is tied to what Annie was up to in the months away from Langley, and some of the secrets that she is keeping from Auggie and everyone else.

Our personal hope is that the return of Fehr, even if it is just for an episode (he will appear in at least one), is that he helps to drive some attention back to the show. The ratings for the premiere were a little low, and that has been in some ways a symptom of the entire USA schedule as of late. Is the show’s strategy of moving beyond its happy-go-lucky attitude backfiring? Maybe we’re just looking at some flukey weeks here, and time will more adequately tell.

What we do know is that there is an action-packed season ahead as Annie works through the literal and emotional rubble from the disaster in the premiere. There will be more excitement, action, romance, and intrigue; in other words, it is everything you want and then some.
