‘Supernatural’ season 10 spoilers: Jensen Ackles directing third episode

Take a look -After taking a little bit of time with his family, Jensen Ackles will be returning to the director’s chair on “Supernatural” next season. Not only do we know that, but we also have the welcome information now regarding when this episode could end up airing.

In a post on Twitter, co-executive producer Jim Michaels confirmed that Jensen will be directing the third episode to air this coming fall. It may or may not be the third one that films, but that ultimately does not matter much since it is very hard to track filming updates without set pictures (which we do not share here out of respect for the series). Based on the premiere date information we were given by The CW yesterday, this episode will most likely air on October 21.

Jensen has three episodes under his belt already has a director, but he has not taken on this responsibility since 2012. This episode will come after his co-star Misha Collins directed an installment earlier this spring, which shows further that more and more of the cast is getting invested in taking on multiple duties within the show. The only reason that we don’t see this sort of thing more often is simply because of the fact that it takes so long to direct an episode, in between pre-production, editing, managing the scenes, and also filming your own scenes. It’s not like Dean is not going to have a role on an episode just so Jensen can go behind the camera for a little while.

What do you think: Are you happy to see Jensen getting behind the camera again, and what sort of story do you want to see him be responsible for? Share your thoughts with a comment, and head over here to get some not-so-supernatural (but still great) TV updates via our CarterMatt Newsletter.
