ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 7 spoilers: A very subtle episode count reveal

The latest -How many episodes will “Castle‘ season 7 be? Unlike some other network shows, this is not always one with a number set in stone other than “at least 22.” Season 4 had 23 episodes, whereas season 5 had 24, and then season 6 went back to 23 again. The show likes to go above and beyond the standard order for many reasons, with a big one being that there is a lot of ABC programming that needs an accompaniment in between “Dancing with the Stars” and “The Bachelor.”

In going back to this season, you can expect (at least for now) 23. In a post on Twitter that show creator Andrew W. Marlowe (who is still very involved despite not being the primary showrunner) claimed was of the light switch in his office, you can see on the whiteboard that there are 23 episodes listed. That means that we should have at least the same number as last year, which is definitely worth a dance party like the one in the “Orphan Black” finale on Saturday.

Granted, it is always possible that there could be changes down the line, as ABC did add a 24th episode of season 5 during production. We’d be surprised to see that happen again, given that the window for making these episodes is so tight and that added episode was “Still,” which was basically half a clip show and half something taking place in the present. 23 episodes is plenty of time to unravel that controversial cliffhanger, and then give us the future for Castle and Beckett, regardless of whether or not they are married. (We’re hoping that they are.)

In case you missed it recently, we wrote about just what we’d love to see next from Alexis Castle, in addition to all of our other frequent “Castle” coverage. Just because the series goes away for the summer does not mean we do!
