‘Sleepy Hollow’ season 2 spoilers: The state of the Ichabod / Abbie relationship

Love Ichabod and Abbie on “Sleepy Hollow“? Even if you don’t ‘ship them, it’s still at least easy to admire the fun dynamic that the two had in working to stop the Apocalypse in the first season. (Yeah, we did just use the words “fun” and “apocalypse” in the same sentence.)

Unfortunately, the two did not necessarily end the first season on the best of terms, given that Abbie sacrificed herself in purgatory. While it may have been for the good of Ichabod and Katrina and also the world, it’s still not exactly easy to sacrifice yourself in Purgatory. It’s seemingly a pretty lonely, pretty messed-up place where there are all sorts of unwelcome issues you have to deal with.

Executive producer Len Wiseman teases to TV Guide that there is definitely a chance that these two characters are going to work through their issues eventually. However, there are major obstacles that they will face when it comes to knowing that one has the other’s back when it matters the most:

“There’s a real question of trust … If it’s ever broken once, can you ever get it back again?” 

This is how we look at the reality of the situation: So long as he has Katrina, Abbie is never going to be Ichabod’s true #1. It’s a matter of vows and a matter of love, and while that may sound like the back of a greeting card, it’s very much true. Abbie is going to have to find another person to lean on, or priorities are going to have to change for Ichabod.
