‘Homeland’ season 4 spoilers: The status of Carrie’s kid
We knew that “Homeland” was going to be starting over in a way with its fourth season, but we had no idea until now just how much the formula was changing versus what we knew at the end of last year.
One example of that is that this upcoming season is going to be taking place in Pakistan, even though Carrie was supposedly stationed in Turkey in season 3. Meanwhile, we’re finding out now that the child she had with Nicholas Brody is going to remain a significant part of her life, even though it seemed almost like she was going to just leave the child behind with her father and not play that much of an active role in their life.
Speaking about this subject in an interview with TV Guide, show executive producer Howard Gordon had the following to say about what they have planned for the character:
“This year tells the story of Carrie and her evolution as CIA officer but also as a woman, who now turns out to be a mother.”
We want to be fully excited about what season 4 could bring, given that there is a great cast being assembled and “Homeland” was once a top five show on television. Unfortunately, it fell completely off the map with season 3 in between the heaving focus on the Brody family and the fact that Damian Lewis was barely in it save for a few episodes. It felt mostly like something that could have just been tagged on to season 2 for another few episodes rather than a full season. The show will have to find a way to get its moment (and its critical acclaim) back if it wants to succeed in the end.
