ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 4: Emily Thorne’s origin story revealed in new comic

Emily -

Revenge” is not a story about forgiveness, and who said that it also had to be a story that could only exist in a single medium? Mostly people know the tale of Emily Thorne / Amanda Clarke thanks to the hit TV show, but thanks in part to the partnership between ABC and Marvel (both aired by the parent company Disney), you may have a chance now to get some more background on the character in a graphic novel that just so happens to be canon.

There is a new novel coming out entitled Revenge: The Secret Origins of Emily Thorne that is going to be coming out on September 3, and this will offer up a cornucopia of information about the character’s past while training and preparing to come back to the Hamptons to execute per plot. You can see the cover for the book over on ComicBook.com, who shared the following quote from series co-producer / writer Ted Sullivan (who worked on the book with graphic novelist Erica Schultz):

“Basically, we’ve always felt that Emily Thorne or Amanda Clarke in this form is kind of a superhero in her own right … There’s still some parts of her backstory that we haven’t examined and the freedom of a graphic novel allows you to really explore that and not be limited by production or budget or anything like that so your imagination can go free.”

This sounds fairly awesome to us, and there are times when we do wish that Emily had more of a comic-book quality on the show and was a bit more of a vigilante. This is more of an opportunity to see that, and if this book serves up any information that will be helpful for season 4, it will be the icing on the cake. As of now, this is shaping up to be the most enigmatic year to date.

We’ll have more on the book soon, but for now head over to the link here to grab more “Revenge” updates. As for updates from the rest of CarterMatt, sign up now to get them via email.
