ABC’s ‘Scandal’ season 4 spoilers: Bellamy Young looks at future of Fitz, Mellie
Remember that “Scandal” episode entitled “Everything’s Coming Up Mellie”? That ended up being a devastating hour for this character. However, this week everything is coming up roses for Bellamy Young, starting with her victory last night at the Critics’ Choice TV Awards. This is an actress who had to work extremely hard to get to the point of landing this role, and this likely makes it even more rewarding in the end.
In addition to winning this trophy, Young is still in the midst of an Emmy publicity circuit. She spoke recently to TVLine about quite a few subjects pertaining to the ABC show’s third season, but also briefly chatted about just how she feels her character is going to handle the fact that her son with Fitz is now dead. Has she talked with Tony Goldwyn about how they are going to film these scenes? Here’s her response now:
“No, because I don’t know if we’ll come back immediately [in time]. One year, we skipped 10 months in the middle, so I have no idea where we’ll start back. But I can tell you that and as much as [the rape episode] ‘Everything’s Coming Up Mellie’ was a devastating table read, that script for our last episode of Season 3…”
We believe that there will be some sort of time jump, mostly because the show is not going to want to keep Olivia Pope away from the rest of the cast forever. They will want to throw her back into this world quickly, and then see what happens from there. We would think somewhere along the lines of a few weeks to even a couple of months depending on if Kerry Washington’s character really wants a long vacation.

She is wonderful in this part. Her scene after Fitz threw his ties on the floor was exquisitely acted. A true professional.
